On a three-year rotation, the Association offers a prize for the best dissertation, the best early career article, and best first book. Applications are solicited each fall and the award is made the following spring, with an honorarium of $250. Submissions are now open for the 2017-2018 round, for articles or book chapters on Iberian history published in peer-reviewed journals or books between 2015 and 2017 and in any of the three languages of the Association (English, Portuguese, and Spanish). Only graduate students or those people who have earned a Ph.D. within the last five years are eligible to apply. Individuals can submit only one article per grant cycle. Authors must be active members of the ASPHS to be eligible for consideration. This year’s award will be announced at the 2018 annual meeting of the ASPHS in Portland, Oregon. An electronic copy of the published article, the table of contents of the journal or volume in which the article was published, and the author’s c.v., including current contact information, must accompany each submission.
