Keynote Lecturer: Dr. Ananya Jahanara Kabir, co-editor of
Postcolonial Approaches to the European Middle Ages
Short papers and presentations are invited from MA and Ph.D.students working on projects that link the postcolonial with medieval images. The study day will be open to art historians, historians, literary scholars and anyone else interested in the visual. The keynote lecture will be followed by workshops for MA and PhD students on topics such as periodization and temporality, geographies, borders and border crossing, translation subversion and appropriation, especially as they apply to visual culture. Participation will not be limited to medievalists.
A limited number of student bursaries for both UK and international students will be available.
